BONE GRAFTING
It is important that dental implants are placed in sufficient volume of good quality bone. However, for some people, jawbone shrinkage after the loss of teeth leaves them without enough bone to secure an implant.
CROWNS AND BRIDGES
A crown is a “cap” that covers most or all of the visible portion of a tooth. It is cemented in place and cannot be removed for daily cleaning. Crowns may be made of metal or tooth coloured ceramic or a combination of both materials.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
The third set of teeth. Always had problems eating or chewing? Always having loose dentures and not able to eat well? Dental implants can be your solution!
DENTURES
A denture is used to replace missing teeth in the mouth and can be taken out of the mouth by the patient. The main body of the denture is commonly made of acrylic and may or may not include metal components in its design. Depending on the condition of the teeth remaining, the choice of the material will be advised by the dentist.
FISSURE SEALANTS
Fissure sealant is a small filling that is placed on the grooves of the biting surface of posterior teeth. The grooves and pits of molars are areas that are particularly difficult to clean thoroughly. Food and bacteria tends to stick to them and cause decay over time.
FLUORIDE APPLICATION
After your general check-up and clean with your dentist, he or she may recommend fluoride application. This is especially useful in patients with a higher risk of developing caries (tooth decay).
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY
Dentistry, like all other fields of medicine and science, is always developing and improving with new knowledge and techniques through research and study. At Smileworks, we are committed to improving our wealth of dental knowledge and providing our patients with the best possible dental care backed by sound dental science.
NIGHTGUARD / MOUTHGUARD
A mouthguard is a removable acrylic appliance that provides a barrier between the upper and lower teeth. It is commonly worn on the upper teeth during sleep. Mouthguards/Nightguards cannot actually stop the bruxism habit, but it does prevent its negative implications.
ORTHODONTICS (BRACES)
There are orthodontic solutions to suit every lifestyle. At our clinic, we offer various options for you to achieve that straighter smile….
• Metal Braces (with coloured modules of your choice)
• Esthetic Ceramic Braces
• Clear aligner systems
• Invisalign® Removable Appliances
REMOVAL OF WISDOM TEETH
Wisdom teeth, or third molars, are the last teeth to erupt at each quadrant of your mouth, often not appearing until you are 17 or older.
ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
Root canal treatment serves to allow a previously infected tooth to heal and remain in the mouth instead of being extracted.
SCALING AND POLISHING; GUM TREATMENT
As the adage goes, “Prevention is better than cure.”
Teeth cleanings are an essential part of maintaining oral and overall health. Cleanings are referred to as “scaling and polishing”.
TEETH WHITENING
Over the years, teeth can become discoloured or stained due coffee, tea, soft drinks, tobacco and other foods. Teeth Whitening can be done to remove these stains that have been absorbed and restore that dazzling smile.
TMJ (TEMPORO-MANDIBULAR JOINT) DISORDERS
The joint which connects the lower jaw to the skull is known as the temporo-mandibular joint. Any pain or pathology related to these joints or the surrounding structures are known as TMJ disorders.
TOOTH COLOURED FILLINGS
Dental fillings are used as part of the restorative process after a tooth is damaged by decay, trauma or tooth wear. Tooth-coloured fillings are much more frequently used as compared to metal fillings due to the development of newer and stronger filling materials available.
