Dr Gabriel Tan is an accredited specialist in Endodontics with the Singapore Dental Specialists Accreditation Board and restricts his clinical practice to root canal related treatment including non-surgical root canal treatment, management of cracked teeth, dental trauma, vital pulp therapy and endodontic microsurgery.
He currently practices at Denticare and Smileworks. He is also a part time clinical instructor with the Endodontic Postgraduate program in National University of Singapore and a visiting specialist at the Singapore Armed Forces Specialist Dental Centre.
Dr Gabriel graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2014. He practiced at Singhealth polyclinics and National Dental Centre Singapore before pursuing his Master of Dental Surgery in Endodontics at the National University of Singapore. He also published his postgraduate research, which studied the levels of pain that patients experienced with different types of root canal sealers used, in the Journal of Endodontics by the American Association of Endodontists.
Prior to entering private practice, Dr Gabriel was an associate consultant in the National Dental Centre where he treated a wide range of root canal related cases. During his time there, he received multiple “Smile” awards for going the extra mile for his patients and was awarded the Singapore Health Quality service award (Star) for healthcare professionals who have delivered quality care and excellent service to patients. He was also the recipient of the Covid resilience medal.
Dr Gabriel is passionate about continual education. During his time in NDCS, he worked closely with the endodontic dental officers and provided training and mentorship for them. He was also given the role of chairman of the Advancing Clinical Education committee. He keeps himself current by actively attending courses both locally and overseas and enjoys sharing his knowledge when he conducts courses. He has conducted multiple workshops and presented talks and posters at dental conferences locally and overseas. He is also a part time clinical instructor with the NUS Endodontic Postgraduate program.
Dr Gabriel derives great job satisfaction from helping his patients manage their tooth-related pain and discomfort. He strives to make the root canal experience as comfortable and pain-free as possible for his patients and hopes to remove the common misconception that root canal treatments are painful and allay the fear of his patients.
