FLUORIDE APPLICATION

After your general checkup and clean with your dentist, he or she may recommend fluoride application. This is especially useful in patients with a higher risk of developing caries (tooth decay).

Fluoride is a mineral that helps to prevent tooth decay and can repair teeth if the tooth decay is in the early stages of the disease.

Fluoride can be found in your toothpaste or mouth rinse that is easily available in a store or at the pharmacy. However, fluoride gel used in the dental office has a higher and stronger level of concentration.

Professional fluoride treatments typically take only a few minutes. The fluoride gel is placed in a soft tray that is held in the mouth for several minutes.
