Invisalign First: A First Of Its Kind For Growing Smiles
I am sure you have been told that your kids’ baby teeth have to all fall out first before they can start on braces treatment. Well, we are here to tell you something different!
What is Invisalign First Clear Aligners?

Invisalign First is the latest addition to the Invisalign treatment suite. It is an early orthodontic treatment designed specially for children above the age 7. Invisalign First allows children whose teeth are still growing in to use Invisalign clear aligners to straighten their teeth. This gives the parents of children an option to avoid choosing metal braces for their child due to the discomfort and abrasions that is commonly associated with metal braces treatment.
Why Invisalign First?
- Early correction and preventive to achieve functional and stable bite early in their lives
- Can treat a broad range of orthodontic conditions in growing children
- No diet restrictions required, child can remove aligners to eat/drink and brush teeth
- Predictable and positive experience for children and parent
Early orthodontic treatment is important
We believe that there are many benefits to early orthodontic intervention. The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends a check-up with an orthodontic specialist no later than age 7. This age is recommended because at a younger age, the children’s jaws are still malleable which allows for the orthodontist to get good results from treatment. Early intervention allows specialist to treat orthodontic issues early and avoid the need for complex treatment when they are older. Orthodontics isn’t just about straightening your teeth. Misaligned teeth, bite/jaw problems, and overcrowding can cause several health problems well into adulthood.
How does Invisalign First Works?
Invisalign First is a pre-treatment to help prepare your child’s teeth, bite and jaws for any subsequent orthodontic treatment in the future if required. By doing a pre-treatment, this reduces the extent of treatment and time required during their teenage years.
Invisalign First is designed to gradually expand the dental arch/jawline and create an ideal environment for future teeth eruption. Similar to standard Invisalign treatment, the clear aligners will gently shift your child’s teeth into the desired position, however Invisalign First clear aligner trays have unique features to accommodate incoming new teeth.
During your child’s Invisalign first treatment, the aligners will help to straighten teeth, expand and correct bite, and open up spaces for incoming teeth all at the same time.
You will be surprised but younger patients tend to be more compliant with treatment, rather than having to deal with them in their teenager years!
How do you know your child needs early orthodontic intervention?
If you or your spouse have misaligned teeth or have done orthodontic treatment before, it is very likely that your children will need orthodontic treatment. Tooth alignment is genetic, and these problems are often inherited from their parents. If you notice that your child is facing any of the problems listed below, you should bring them in for an early dental screening with our orthodontic specialist.

- Early, late, or irregular loss of baby teeth
